Weeton Primary School: Providing effective learning opportunities for all pupils.

Some things you really ought to know about Weeton School

Our Friendship Ring

Whenever someone new joins our school family, we light the candle in our Friendship Ring  during assembly.

We also light it when someone leaves us.

Mr Aitkenhead's Bench

Mr Aitkenhead was our school caretaker.  When he died suddenly in February 1999, we wanted something we could remember him by.  So we bought this bench and placed it near our front door.  It's still there today.

Every February we plant some flowers and put them by the bench.  It's our way of remembering someone special to us.

Mr Aitkenhead also used to look after our school rabbits.  The rabbit on the left is in memory of Maxine.  The one on the right just appeared near the bench one day.  Just like Freddy, the real rabbit, who turned up after a half term holiday!

Our Best Efforts Book

Every Friday, each teacher chooses one or two children who have made the best effort in their class during the week.  They receive special certificates during the afternoon assembly.

The Headteacher and Welfare Assistants also present certificates for special effort.  Our Best Efforts go back to 1995, so children enjoy looking back to see when they got a mention.

Our School Logo

Our logo was designed in 1995 by 9-year-old Kayley Cracknell.  This is her drawing, which was turned into the round version (to fit all the words in) by John Hutchinson, father of Mrs Duckworth (Deputy Head at the time).

At that time, the school was called Weeton County Primary School.

In September 1999, we became Weeton Primary School, so the logo was changed to the one we use today.  We like it, and we proudly wear it on our uniform!
