Packed Lunches

The majority of our pupils presently bring a packed lunch to school. Children may also go home for lunch.

Children who bring a packed lunch are supervised by our Welfare Staff.

Please ensure, for your child's safety, that any drink is in a suitable container. Please do not send cans of fizzy drinks. We also ask you not to send soup, because of potential accidents.

Sweets or chocolate should not be included in packed lunches.

Children who go home for lunch should return to school no earlier than 1.10pm.

Here are just a few points to ensure that all the children are safe and happy at lunchtime:

* Children are expected to show good manners, be well behaved and show respect to staff and other children at all times.

* As lunchtime is a social occasion, children are allowed to talk with low voices with friends who are sharing their table in the dining room.

* Any uneaten food is usually left in the children's lunchboxes so that parents can see what they have left. We assume that what is sent is what the child likes.

* Each of the Welfare Assistants has a small notebook. Throughout the week, they make a note of any particularly good behaviour or helpfulness at lunchtime. Lunchtime Best Effort certificates are then awarded during our Friday assemblies
.

* Welfare Assistants also note anything of concern (unacceptable behaviour, children who regularly do not eat their lunch etc). This enables the Headteacher to monitor behaviour at lunchtime and deal with any concerns appropriately. In extreme cases, a child may have to go home for lunch until acceptable behaviour can be guaranteed.
