Learning French and German
Weeton Primary School belongs to a network of six very different local schools that are all committed to developing modern foreign language learning as a way of enriching the curriculum and raising standards in speaking and listening generally. This has a particular relevance for our school as many of our children have already lived in other parts of the world before joining us here at Weeton, bringing with them their own experiences and knowledge that make learning languages even more relevant and fun.

All our children are learning either French or German and we have held special German assemblies, a Greek Day and celebrated the European Day of Languages. |
| At the end of the summer term, a a special trophy was awarded to the child who made the most progress in modern foreign languages over the year. Jessica from Year 2 won the award in July 2006. She made great progress in German. |
On Tuesday, 4th July 2006 we hosted a Modern Foreign Languages Celebration Day at our school for children in our network.
Children participated in a wide range of different activities including food tasting, a game of boules, traditional European dances, music and drama workshops and art and craft activities.

Learning another language is really quite easy and fun. To get you started, have a go at this in German: |
| How are you? | Wie geht es Dir? | |
| I'm fine, thank you. | Gut, danke. | |
| All right. | Es geht. | |
| Not well. | Nicht so gut. |
