Health and Fitness Week: 10th - 14th July 2006
Getting fit and healthy!
We had a brilliant Health and Fitness Week, with a timetable full of different activities. We started every morning with a jog around the playground.
The army kindly let us use their gym on Monday. Here we are doing some warm up activities. The teachers seem to be resting!
Meanwhile, in the classrooms, the school nurses talked to us about hand hygiene, medicine safety and how to protect ourselves from the sun. We checked to see how much sun cream to apply to keep us safe in the sun...
On Tuesday, it was our Sports Day. We have three Houses: Montgomery (Red), Wellington (Yellow) and Wolfe (Green). Each House was split into 3 teams of different ages from 5 to 11. We had 12 different activities, including hockey and football dribble, obstacle, sack, space hoppers and netball. The army put some tents up for us around the field...
One of the activities was skipping...
And here's the hoop race...
The space hoppers were hair-raising and needed lots of energy...
The winning House was Montgomery. It was the first time Reds had won Sports Day in ages! They had 887 points, Yellows had 881 points and Greens had 872. It was really close this year.
Yellow 3 team got the Gold Award for getting the most points on Sports Day...
On the Thursday afternoon, we had a School Team v Staff netball match. The staff played fairly and there was absolutely no cheating (!). The School Team won 3:2 after penalties. Here's Mrs Elletson shooting at the goal...
Wacky Races took place one lunchtime. Lots of us brought our bikes and we had great fun riding around the circuits on the playground...
It was another sunny day...
On the Friday, three ladies came to school to show us how to belly dance. As you can see, it was great fun...
We celebrated the end of Health and Fitness Week by gathering in the hall. We all received certificates for taking part.
Some of us won prizes for getting the most points on our Fit Kids cards, for taking part in lots of activities...
| We had a great week! |
