Harvest Festival October 2006

Harvest Festival

On Thursday 5th October, we held our Harvest Festival.  About 70 mums, dads and grandparents joined us in our packed hall.

We had a bright and colourful display of fruit and vegetables (paintings, prints and pastel drawings) and bulbs, plants and shrubs (real ones!).  Look out for our own school-grown pumpkins in the pictures.

After singing "Harvest Samba", Class 1 made their first public appearance when they sang their leaf song...

Next, Class 2 recited a poem about vegetables.  They wore some super masks.

Class 3 told us the story of a loaf of bread.  They spoke up really well...

We all sang "All Things Bright and Beautiful" - even the grown ups!  Then it was Class 4's turn to entertain us with some harvest poems...

Class 5 acted out the story of "The Enormous Pumpkin" - using the biggest pumpkin from our school garden.  A tiny mouse saved the day!

Class 6 performed a lively harvest rap and a dance to "Morning has broken".  These two farmers had a wonderful harvest....

After saying our prayers,  we sang one of our favourites: "Conkers".  We nearly raised the roof with one hundred!

Here's a closer look at our harvest display...

This is Class 6's bowl of fruit, inspired by the artist Cezanne.  They used pastels and lots of lovely shading...

As you will have seen, we all had a happy morning celebrating harvest...
