Creating the Rainbow Room

The Story of the Rainbow Room

We used to keep our rabbits, Maxine and Freddy, in the grassy area between these buildings.  In the summer term of 2004, the foundations were laid for our new extension.  This is where the Rainbow Room would be built.  At the far end would be the Changing Room with disabled toilet and showering facilities.  Turning left would take you to the Quiet Room and then the Meeting Room.

Classes 5 & 6 are on this side.                                                            Class 1 is on this side.

On this side of the wall would be the Courtyard. The land in the distance would eventually become ours; it became our Woodland Walk.

The walls went up to make the Changing Room...

And on with the roof...

The window frames were fitted...

Here's a view from inside.  The doorway into the Courtyard hadn't been cut out yet...

After LOTS more work, and with the arrival of new furniture and resources, we now move on to the Official Opening in October 2004.

Members of The King's Division Normandy Band joined our celebrations.  They played a special fanfare based on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".  Everyone in school walked through the Rainbow Room...

School Adviser, Mrs E Scott, cut the ribbon as the Band played.  The Mayor and Mayoress of Fylde were amongst our special guests...

The Rainbow Room was officially open!

Since then lots of children have enjoyed working in it - and reaching their pot of gold - with Mrs Donnelly.

Update June 2007: Since Mrs Donnelly left us, Mrs Pridmore now works with us in the Rainbow Room.
