12 Oct 2006 - £1018 pledged so far for "Sing for Sean"
On a sunny day, our school was full of families and friends who joined us for our Open Afternoon. £1018 had been pledged by this morning for "Sing for Sean" and we are confident that figure will get bigger once the sponsorship money starts to come in.
About £250 (it's still being counted!) was raised during the afternoon from two raffles and a variety of competitions run by the children. The army chefs kindly made us a cake to raffle; it raised £53. We had 44 prizes in the other raffle; thanks to all those who donated the prizes.
The highlight of the afternoon was when all the classes and the staff (X Factor here we come!) sang their songs for Sean. We were delighted that Sean's mum was able to be with us (his baby brother Callum slept soundly all afternoon in the staff room!). Both Sean and Andrew were away in hospital, so couldn't be with us (see Andrew's message in our Guestbook). We'll make sure they see lots of pictures and we hope to record all our songs so they can hear how good we are!
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped or supported us this afternoon.
UPDATE - 16th October 2006:
The picture shows Sean when he visited Weeton after school today. He's just back home from his recent course of treatment in hospital. He came to look at some of the art and craft materials which were bought with some of the money this weekend. These will eventually go to Alder Hey Hospital for Sean and the other children to have fun with. Keep watching for more news.
UPDATE - 19th October 2006:
Total money so far is £1067 (including raffles and competitions). More sponsorship money still to be collected.
UPDATE - 6th November 2006:
Total is now £1394.
UPDATE - 9th November 2006:
The total has gone up to £1424.
UPDATE: 17th November 2006
