Cyprus Day
Preparing for the move to Cyprus, we had a special celebration day in June 2011 which included Greek dancing and tasting food. Above (from left to right): Miss Darkins, Mrs Dudding, Miss Russel, Mrs Pridmore, Miss Graves and Mr Ashcroft. Mr Goth (front) "entertained" everyone on the guitar! And... Visitors from Episkopi Primary School Mrs Scott (SENCO) and Mrs Yates (Deputy Headteacher) of Episkopi Primary School visited us in June 2011. They met the children and parents who will be moving to Cyprus this summer. We lit the candle in our Friendship Ring to celebrate the link between our two schools. The candle was taken back to Cyprus, and lit once more when our children joined Episkopi School. Click here to visit Episkopi Primary School's website Click here to visit St John's School, Episkopi (High School) All change! 2 Yorks went off to Cyprus in summer 2011, and 2 Lancs joined us from Cyprus, so it has been all change at Weeton School this year. 82 out of 118 were new to our school in Sept 2011. for more information for new families.
Learning about Mr Lowry Some of Class 6's work based on the artist L S Lowry and his visits to Lytham St Annes
We won the Mr Lowry in Lytham St Annes competition in 2011! Congratulations to Class 6 and all the staff involved. Our winning portfolio meant that we went to The Lowry to see Mr Lowry's wonderful pictures. We took part in two art workshops led by a professional artist. We also received £200 of art materials or books (total prize to the value of £750). One of our children came 2nd in the individual entries (out of over 200), with a prize to the value of £50. Lots of our artwork was part of MR LOWRY IN LYTHAM ST ANNES an exhibition in Lytham of children's art inspired by the work of L S Lowry Prize winning painting Click here to visit THE LOWRY website and find out more about the artist and see some of his pictures.
We hope you enjoy visiting our school website (judged to be outstanding by Ofsted in January 2012). It should give you some idea of what life is like at Weeton School. Maybe you saw us on BBC's The One Show this August! We have done lots of TV and radio in the last couple of years. Most recently, we were filmed asking questions about space for the latest series of BBC 2's STARGAZING LIVE. You can find out what's been happening at Weeton. Read out latest Newsletters. Meet the staff or visit the Office if you need information about school uniform, term times, packed lunches etc. Read our January 2012 Ofsted inspection report. We always look forward to hearing from visitors to our website and from members of our school family who have moved on. It's great to keep in touch and we like to hear your news. We've had messages from Germany, Canada, Fiji, New York, Cyprus and Saudi Arabia - and many from nearer home. There's even a mesage from HRH The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward (Feb 2007). Just go along to our guestbook and leave your message. I try my best to keep up with replying to them all - we appreciate every one. This is my final year as Headteacher of Weeton Primary School, as I shall be retiring in July 2012. It promises to be quite a year! Mr C J Horrocks, Headteacher
